History of the club...
Wombwell Karting (also known as South Yorkshire Kart Club) has one of the oldest and most unique kart circuits in the UK, with records dating back to 1959. The track is fairly short at only 865m long and is one of very few kart circuits with an anti-clockwise layout.
The track may be short but challenging with the infamous turn 3 which is approached flat out in all classes from the straight and is entered blind due to the perimeter fence, tightening into turn 4, presenting fantastic overtaking opportunities for the brave. It has been the point of many championship deciding moves (and bumps) over the years.
The circuit has been raced by a number of drivers that have gone on to be successful. These are just a few - Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Mike Wilson, Dan Wheldon, Justin Wilson and local Formula E driver Oliver Rowland.

As a non-profit making company the club is run by a team of unpaid directors, volunteers and officials, we welcome support to maintain and improve the club.

A friendly, welcoming circuit and a great place to begin your karting journey. Race meetings are held monthly for owner drivers. As a registered and licensed Motorsport UK circuit, we can offer ARKS Test to enable drivers to become licenced to race in MSUK events.
Well worth a visit!
