In memory of the late Brian Wilson
Brian was an active member of Wombwell from 1970 until his untimely death in 1992. His involvement with karting started when his 11 year old son, Mike Wilson, took up karting at Wombwell.
Mike had great success in karting and at 18 years old moved to Italy to work as a team driver for Birel and eventually won the World Championship 6 times.
Whilst Mike raced for Birel, Brian continued his involvement at Wombwell and started a kart business producing the Premier Karts and providing track side support at all meetings, along with working on the club committee; maintaining the track and trying to improve the club.

The club decided to recognise Brain's contribution by holding an annual memorial meeting, which is always supported by his wife Eileen and members of the Wilson family.

Mike Wilson kindly donated one of his World Championship trophies to be awarded to the Driver of the Day chosen by Eileen and her family.
​
The winner of each class wins the ‘W Plate’ this can be used whilst racing at Wombwell until the next W Plate meeting.
#27 Joe Dale Cup
Joe was a quiet, friendly, funny, young lad with some good friends at Wombwell. He never moaned about incidents on circuit or if he wasn’t happy with the kart. Joe just got on with it and enjoyed time at the circuit with his Dad.
Sadly on Friday 23rd June 2017, Joe was taken from his family and friends. He passed away after suffering from a sudden, severe asthma attack whilst out with his friends at the his local park.
We made a promise to his family that Joe will always be remembered, Joe will race on #27.
Jon and Helena Dale are will be present during the Joe Dale Cup to choose a driver that stands out to them to receive the Driver of the Day trophy and during the annual presentation evening a driver will be presented with the Joe Dale Award for the most promising driver.

We will also be raising funds for the South Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Bluebell Wood and Asthma UK during this event - your donations will be gratefully received.
